Clarity For Life

Your Key Step to Inner Freedom

...and a life you love

Article by Nicola Walker

We have all been blessed with a body, mind and spirit as well as the unspoken invitation to create a life we love. And yet, all so often, our bodies are underused, our minds get lazy and spirit is forgotten or ignored. All three of these incredible gifts that we have been given, our body, mind and spiritual awareness, offer us unlimited potential for a meaningful and inspired life.

A good place to begin creating a life you love is with the mind. How open is your mind? How can you know how open your mind is? How do you open your mind? Whenever you are suffering, either mildly – feeling stressed, bored, dull, frustrated, sad – or suffering a lot – you can always open your mind to a new perspective by questioning your thoughts. Then you get to see how open your mind was previously!

Often when you feel out of sorts, it is because you are not honoring what you really want. Many of the clients I work with have told themselves, without even realizing it, that they can’t have what they want. The mind is tricky. Unless we pay close attention and explore the workings of our minds, we believe our thoughts: “I need to work a 40 hour week to get this kind of money.” “Keep singing for fun—it’s not practical to make a career out of singing—especially at your age!” “I’d better not say anything, it’ll make things worse.” Many of us err on the side of practicality, caution and the group mind.

A reasoning thought that is in direct conflict to your true heart’s desire will naturally make you feel dull, frustrated and even depressed. The only way to escape this enmeshment of illusory realities, is to develop the habit of checking in with your mind and body, noticing what you’re feeling, what you’re thinking, and questioning those thoughts that make you feel stuck, small or down-hearted. When you question your thoughts, you open yourself up to accessing a deeper wisdom. When you are willing to say you don’t really know and you are willing to explore what is truly possible, then you open yourself up to spiritual guidance.

I’ve discovered that the art to living a life you love is to become adept at clarifying and following your dreams in a grounded and practical way. I tried following my bliss with my head in the clouds—it didn’t work. I tried just being practical—my heart longed for more. Now I honor my deepest dreams and goals by combining spiritual guidance with practical action steps and a lot of surrendering. Inner freedom is not only about questioning your thoughts but about letting go of attachment, while moving towards your goal. That way you can be light and open-hearted, which is perfect for attracting your highest good into your life.
